Kapisillit - Day Tour
Visit this amazing place
This tour is for travelers who love the thrill of an exciting longer boat ride and the scenic wonders of Greenland
The boat ride to Kapisillit takes approx. 2.5 hours and takes us through the eastern part of the Nuuk Fjord system. The mountains flanking the fjord are some of the oldest in the world and provide precious material for local artists. Take in the vastness of the fjord while keeping a lookout for whales, seals, and white-tailed eagles. This is Kapisillit Settlement Visit.
Upon arriving at Kapisillit you will be able to walk the settlement and see the iconic church, with a spectacular view of the fiord. This is the place around 70 people call home every year.
Local school children are educated via Skype connection to Nuuk, and so they can maintain a high level of education even here.
On the way heading back to Nuuk, we will stop by Qoornoq, an abandoned settlement that today serves as a summer retreat area for locals from Nuuk. Qoornoq was abandoned in the 70s as the fish factory shut down and modern commodities were shut down.
If you want more time in Kapisillit you can book a transfer via Disko Line – and then spend some days in there.
When you are going out on an adventure, it is highly recommended to bring both camera and binoculars. It is also advisable to bring warm clothes. On this boat there is heated cabin, but prepare and bring clothes that keep you warm, when you want to sit outside on the front deck. A neck warmer and glowes is always good.
